“In your mind, in your heart, in Morden - the Chautauqua Spirit”
This will become a familiar phrase in 2008 as Morden kicks off a year full of cultural discoveries. The prestigious Cultural Capital award recognizes the importance of arts and culture in making our community stronger. It also allows us to showcase our community’s exceptionally talented people.
As an added bonus, “Chautauqua Spirit” will leave a positive legacy for the many groups that participate in this project. It promotes and invests more in our arts and culture, and--at the end of the day—it makes a vital contribution to the economy of our town and the quality-of-life of our citizens.
What an eventful year lies ahead! As you browse through this website, you will see a great diversity of events, ranging from artistic exhibitions to festival performances, film features, commissioned works of art, community walks and tours, capacity-building workshops, and special evenings with cultural leaders from Morden.
I am very excited to be a part of this “Chautauqua Spirit” project. I encourage you to attend the many events planned for your enjoyment and I also invite you get involved as a volunteer. You will discover first-hand the spirit that animates this year-long celebration.
