This year’s Back Forty Folk Festival will not only celebrate 20 years of “home-made music,” but will bring more of it to the stage with two full days of programming.

The expanded program is a reflection of Morden’s Cultural Capitals of Canada year and the Chautauqua Spirit project.

This year’s lineup includes a combination of past Back Forty performers as well as a number of new acts, such as Asham Stompers.
Asham Stompers are a Metis folk-dance troupe from Winnipeg.

Through the traditional dancing of the Red River jig, Asham Stompers aims to help re-capture and preserve the history of the Metis people.

Asham Stompers have won numerous dance competitions and performed at many large venues since its inception in 2002.

The Back Forty Festival will take place Saturday May 31 from noon to dusk and continue Sunday June 1 with workshops for musicians and songwriters and more performances.
