Pembina Hills Arts Council 20th Anniversary Members Exhibit

This exhibition will feature the works of member artists of the Pembina Hills Arts Council as they celebrate their 20th Anniversary.

Natalie Rostad Exhibit – "Jouney in Spirit: Full Circle"

The Pembina Hills Arts Centre celebrates its 20th Anniversary with a curated exhibition of the rock art of Metis artist Natalie Rostad Desjarlais. Natalie was an original member of the Pembina Hills artist group and she has pioneered a form of painting that harkens back to the ancient pictographs of her ancestors. In partnership with the Manitoba Arts Network, this exhibit will travel to galleries in other Manitoba Towns.

"Guiding" Spirits Exhibition

Date: September 26th - 28th, 2008
Venue: Morden Recreation Centre – Chautauqua Celebration

This special exhibition will honour individuals who have helped to make the Town of Morden a unique community. It will depict our “Guiding Spirits” – those Morden people who have distinguished themselves, either in local service or in a larger sphere. This walk-through display will highlight their achievements, ethnic heritage, and contribution to the community. The opening of this exhibit will take place at the Chautauqua Celebration in September.

Heritage Quilt Design

Chautauqua Heritage Quilt

Venue: Morden Recreation Centre – Chautauqua Celebration

Quilters in the region will create a Chautauqua Heritage Quilt, designed to show the distinctive spirit of the many ethnic groups in Morden’s cultural mosaic. The completed quilt will be on display at the Chautauqua Celebration.

Exchange Exhibit – "10 X 10 X 10" – Baie-Saint-Paul

The municipality of Baie-St-Paul, in the district of Charlevoix, province of Quebec (100 km east of Quebec), was chosen Cultural Capital of Canada for the year 2007. One of their projects was to gather paintings from 10 artists, 10 provinces, and 10 days, in the period between the 21st and the 30th of September inclusively.
The artists chosen were asked to create a work of art that would be representative of their province. These works of art are now a part of a travelling exposition to the ten provinces concerned. The artists are:

  2. Mme Erin Jeffrey, Prince Edouard Isaland, Île du Prince Édouard.
  3. Mr Robert Genn, British Columbia, Colombie Britannique.

  5. Mr Darrell Bell, Saskatchewan.
  6. Mr Robert McInnis, Manitoba.
  7. Mr Charles Spratt, Ontario.
  8. Mr Clarence Bourgoin, New brunswick, Nouveau-Brunswick.
  9. Mr Peter Gough, Nova Scotia, Nouvelle Écosse.
  10. Mr Louis Tremblay, Québec.
