Quilting Workshops
The Barnswallows Quilting Club provided a learning opportunity to local quilters to broaden their creativity and knowledge of fibre art, by organizing two events with the internationally renowned quilter - Marilyn Stewart Stothers.
1. Quilters Lecture - "Quilt Art: My Quilting Journey From Here to Japan"
This lecture took place on the evening of September 19th, 2008 at the Morden Friendship Centre and was presented by Marily Stewart Stothers with 41 people present. In this multimedia presentation Marilyn shared the path she has followed in quiltmaking, the detours and exciting discoveries that resulted, the what-ifs that became new ideas. She also talked about current trends in quiltmaking.
2. Quilters Workshop - "Art Quilt Tiles"
This full day workshop took place on September 20th, 2008 at the St Pauls United Church with twenty people present. Each participant was introduced to Marilyn's innovative design and techniques and each participant completed a fibre art tile.
